Yellowstone NP Bison Historical transfers from Fort Peck

Fort Peck Reservation is the lone Tribal site for managing and redistributing Yellowstone bison outside of the National Park. Fort Peck has received multiple transfers of Yellowstone bison saved from slaughter.

With the support of InterTribal Buffalo Council and other partners those bison have now been transferred to 18 Tribes and Alaska Native communities as well as the Bronx Zoo with more to be shared in the future.

The map below shows the extend of the transfer as of August. 2020.
